Privacy Policy

Davis Residents Directory collects very little directly. This policy explains what happens when a visitor uses a search widget, sends a message, or browses pages about Davis, Yolo County, and California records. The reference has no account system and does not hold the government rolls or directory collections described in its pages.

Information You Send Directly

A name, phone number, or address entered into a search form is sent to the third-party provider that powers that result. Davis Residents Directory does not keep a copy of those searches on its own servers. If a visitor writes to the contact address, the message and any details included in it are visible to the operator and are used to respond or handle the request.

Routine Technical Logs

Hosting infrastructure may record an IP address, browser type, pages viewed, referral information, and timestamps. These logs are used in aggregate for security, troubleshooting, performance, and broad traffic measurement. Cookies or related tools may support basic analytics or advertising measurement when those services are enabled. The reference does not use these logs to create a personal Davis resident profile.

How the Information Is Used

Technical information helps maintain the pages, identify broken links, understand general readership, and improve the reference. Contact messages are used to reply or document a request. We do not sell visitor lists or build individual dossiers from browsing activity. The public records discussed on the pages remain under the control of the agency, library, archive, or court that holds them.

External Portals and Search Tools

The pages link to Yolo County portals, City of Davis request routes, California state searches, UC Davis collections, Yolo Archives, and third-party search tools. The outside provider's policy governs anything submitted there. Sponsored search results are supplied by a third party, which may collect and use the submitted information under its own terms.

Who May Process Technical Data

Hosting and site-support vendors may process ordinary server logs. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above if those services operate on the pages. Information may be disclosed when valid legal process requires it. Otherwise, contact content and technical data are handled only for the operational purposes stated here.

Security and Retention

The reference uses an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for as long as the operational, security, or measurement purpose requires. There are no visitor accounts, passwords, or stored user profiles on Davis Residents Directory. No security measure can promise absolute protection, but limiting collection also limits what could be exposed.

Visitors Under 18

The reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a minor sent information may use the Contact page to request review and deletion of that message.

California Privacy Choices

California's Consumer Privacy Act, Civil Code sections 1798.100-1798.199.100, may give covered consumers rights to know, access, delete, correct, opt out of sale or sharing, and limit certain sensitive-information uses. Businesses ordinarily respond within 45 days, subject to the statute and its exceptions. Global Privacy Control can communicate a browser-level sale or sharing preference where applicable.

California's Delete Act, Civil Code section 1798.99.80 and following, created the DROP platform for deletion requests to registered data brokers. Those rights concern information held by a covered business or broker. They do not give the operator control over Yolo deeds, court files, assessment rolls, voter records, or UC Davis and Yolo Archives collections. To ask about data held by this reference, use the Contact page. To change a government record, contact the originating custodian.

Changes to This Policy

A revised policy will be posted here with its updated wording. Continued use after a revision indicates acceptance of the version then posted, to the extent the law permits. The footer legal notice remains separate from this privacy explanation.
